Edmonton Wildcats

The Saskatoon Hilltops did exactly what they were expected to and easily handled the Edmonton Wildcats on a cold and wet day at Saskatoon Minor Football Field.

The Hilltops improved to 7-1 on the season after pushing the Edmonton Wildcats to 0-8 on the year with a 43-9 victory. Saskatoon took a 40-7 lead at halftime thanks to four touchdown passes by starting quarterback Jared Andreychuk. Sam Mike led the Hilltops with two touchdown catches and added 106 total yards. Josh Ewanchyna led Saskatoon with 106 rushing yards and touchdown.

The only blemish during a half that saw Edmonton register -14 yards of total offence was a 92 yard kickoff return touchdown by Isaac Fagnan. Hilltops then pulled all of their starters in the second half and the young players were able to hold on for the victory.

Saskatoon is now tied for first in the PFC with a 7-1 record after Calgary fell 30-23 to Regina but the Colts hold the tiebreaker due to a win over the Hilltops in their only meeting of the year. Saskatoon closes the regular season on Sunday the 16th with a visit to the 2-6 Winnipeg Rifles before hosting one of the PFC semi-final games on October 23rd.
